Meet Our First Virtual Hire: Kara Brady, Operations Manager

We've hit a few major milestones to be proud of this year, and that wouldn't be possible without the dedicated work from our talented team. As Grocery TV continues to grow, we want to highlight our employees, both new hires and established staff, to learn more about their roles, perspectives, and what makes them stand out.

This month we're talking to Kara Brady, our Operations Manager! She reflects on her virtual onboarding experience, what it's like to work at GTV, and her sous-chef skills at home.

You had a completely virtual onboarding process— how was that experience?

Here I am six months in, and I still haven't met a lot of my coworkers in real life. I've only met one who I already knew because we worked at our last company together. It's been very interesting to not have that in-person connection, but I feel pretty lucky. I did have some remote work experience in my background before this position, so I was prepared to work that way.

Grocery TV has done a great job of keeping us connected even though we're all apart. We have frequent one on one meetings and team get-togethers, virtually of course (happy hours, art lessons, beach parties). We're still able to get to know each other and have fun at the same time. In that respect, it really hasn't been that difficult, and I feel very fortunate for that.

Can you describe your typical work week?

As Operations Manager, I'm responsible for maintaining our existing network of devices that are out there in the world, as well as preparing for upcoming installations. A typical work week for me may look like calling existing stores to fix any issues they may be having, resolving them as quickly as possible, and talking to future stores to get their information and get them all prepared for installations.

As of right now, my typical week has had quite the facelift as we've recently started a very large installation nationwide— now I'm installing in five stores a day. Our network is expanding rapidly and we're very excited about it.
